Welcome to the Ann Arbor Flyers

The Ann Arbor Flyers is a not-for-profit club dedicated to making flying affordable and accessible to everyone and connecting pilots for shared learning and fun. The club operates as a partnership — each member is a partial owner of the fleet of aircraft with a fully refundable equity purchase. Our bylaws limit our member to airplane ratio to 15-to-1. Currently we have 5 aircraft hangered at the Ann Arbor Michigan airport:

  • The newest flagship of our fleet — a 1998 PA32R-301TC Saratoga Turbocharged Retractable 6-place!

  • Our 2nd 6-place, a 1984 PA32-301 Piper Saratoga fixed gear.

  • Two PA28-181 Archer IIIs. The newest is a 2001, with electronic ignition and dual Garmin G5’s. The other is a 1995 upgraded to Garmin G3X glass panel.

  • We are leasing a 2003 Lancair Columbia 300,

What makes our club different vs other clubs or renting? We are serious about taking full advantage of the ability to fly. Club scheduling rules are very flexible to encourage cross-county trips with no minimum hours and extended reservation lengths. Club aircraft range from fun-to-fly Archers for local flying or cost-efficient trips, to more capable high performance Saratogas and a Columbia for serious cross-country and instrument flying. We are one of the only clubs with 6-place aircraft - yes you can actually take your whole family flying, with enough fuel to get to your destination! Flying rates are based on Tach hours rather than Hobbs meters, so you typically save hours and money during taxi and low power settings. Members have a range of experience, from new private pilots to commercial pilots, active & retired ATP’s, those working their way up, and those just looking to have fun and stay current. Our fleet is maintained by top-notch member Crew Chiefs, and maybe you could become one! Our aircraft are constantly being upgraded, some are sporting glass panels and the latest autopilots, with more to come. You won’t find a more serious group of general aviation pilots anywhere around.

We’ve relied solely on members’ dues and aircraft hourly rates from our planes to keep us financially solvent for over 75 years. Our rates & dues are intended only for the club to cover the costs of flying and maintaining our aircraft, nothing more - we are a non-profit organization.

We are member-driven and depend on our members to keep the club organized and operating efficiently. We are safety conscious and keep our planes professionally maintained at all times. The membership prides itself on working together with numerous committees (e.g., ADS-B upgrades, fleet evaluation, etc.), which ensures we are continually moving ourselves forward with FAA requirements and aircraft upgrades.

Prospective members are invited to learn more about our Club with an "Introductory Flight”. One of our Club CFIs will take you for a brief flight in one of our meticulously cared-for aircraft and answer questions about our procedures and all that we offer our members.

We extend a warm welcome to new members from anywhere and from all walks of life. Please contact us to ask any questions you might have.
